Well, no one saw this coming.
Electronic Arts decided to invest a boat load of money into rebuilding Ultima Online. Apparently they still have a subscriber base as large as most active MMO's (no where near WoW or Lineage, but right around EQ and EQ2).
The goal is to make the game competitive again. As they describe it, they are the only MMO that is completely unique from the others on the market. To be honest, they are completely right -- UO is skill-based, not class-based, and does not have any of the classical game designs of Everquest or Warcraft.
