Tonight's episode definitely started out with a bang.

Notes as I watch the episode...

- Ben steals Danielle's baby (Alex), and actually mentions the "whispers". First time we've heard anyone actually acknowledge them, which I thought was pretty huge.

- Gotta love how manipulative Ben is. I loved how he talked Caesar (the guy on the beach) that Locke was insane and would be a threat to them. Ben is my hero, in a twisted way.

- LOL, Ben blows away Caesar with his own gun. Guess his part on the show was short lived.

- I love when Sun and Ben discover the picture of the O6 taken in 1976!

- Wow, the showdown between Ben and Charles at the sub was great! Very interesting to see the source of tension between them. Very very revealing (though I'm sure there's more to it). "I'll be seeing you, boy" Nice!

- "It's not a train John. It doesn't run on a schedule" lol

- WHOA, Ben tracked down Penny!

- Love the roll reversal between John and Ben. Ben is suddenly the one blindly following, not knowing the answers to the questions. "Now you know what it was like to be me."

- WHOA, Ben shot Desmond!? Darn, he didn't kill him (which we knew from the earlier scene), and he didn't kill Penny either. =/

- WTF is up with the gun-toting plane crew? "What lies in the shadow of the statue?"

- The temple, and it's underground, is interesting. Wonder what the story is behind it. Looksl ike the monster dates back a long time.

- Ben getting judged was a pretty awesome moment.

- Whoa... Alex?? That can't really be her. Wowzer, Alex roughing up Ben and telling him to follow Locke was creepy!

Overall, amazing episode. The show is really getting back on track now. Things are starting to tie up nicely, and the blanks are finally starting to get filled in. Really like where they're going.

pretty sure all the people on the plane are hired by penny's fathers to retake the island. Ben said on the phone he was going back, so he probably hired those people to get on the plane.

Some interesting posts from the Lost forums as I quickly browse them tonight...

The main picture at the altar showed a picture of Anubis, the god of the dead/Underworld for the Egyptians, summoning what looked to be a representation of Smokey (Albeit, it had a definite face). The way the picture is drawn leads me to believe Smokey is the "judge/minion" of Anubis - the one who decides who gets to enter the Underworld. Smokey could also represent the wrath of Anubis as well.

The image also shows Anubis in a possible kneeling formation - which is known as the praise and glorification pose.

One thing I've noticed about Anubis is that he's listed as the following in some circles:

"Foremost of the Westerners": refers to the role of Anubis as leader of the "westerners"; that is, those that resided in the West, in the direction of the setting sun and the underworld, namely, the deceased (most ancient Egyptian cemeteries were established on the western desert edge of the Nile valley). This particular epithet was transferred from the earlier canine deity, Wepwawet, subsequently superseded by Anubis at Abydos.

Could this be where they are leading to in terms of what Richard really is?

Ok. This show always leaves clues as to what things are in the future i.e. smoke monster etc. I also like how they showed us what he images are when someone faces the smoke monster. (We can only imagine what Eko saw) It seems to me that the smoke monster can appear as persons who are dead somehow. We know Yemi was the smoke monster right? We also never see two apparitions at the same time.
Another thing I noticed in a previous episode, was that Christian showed up at the same spot Sun heard the smoke monster.

I think that however John is able to exist has to do with the smoke monster. In fact, I would go as far as to say that he IS the smoke monster. I also think it was Locke appearing as Alex putting Ben in his place.

I can't find the post now, but someone theorized that Widmore is actually in the box back on the beach, and that the rest of the crew are Widmore people. Would def be interesting...

I thought we were perhaps meant to think it (the game of Risk in Ben's old house) was the exact same one that Sawyer & Hurley were playing with at the beginning of one episode. When they said "Australia is the key to the whole game?" Didn't something happen and they all walked away from it??

Here you go asano, massive revelation. Not even being sarcastic. Show starts with Jack and australia picking up his dead father who we now see alive on the island ala John locke. Is it possible that this is some other power move by a third group? There is obviously something with Jack and his father and how his father is doing stuff in the background.

I like how this episode starts with Ben up to his old tricks. Trying to string Locke along but now Locke is stringing him along. Didn't think Ceasar was going to die so fast. Lipitis just doesn't have a clue what's up. So Ben didn't kill Penny. That was cool too, i thought he was gonna get her for sure. Alex telling him to follow Locke, hmm let's see how that plays out. This was a great episode.

You guys sum it up well, the website with that extra info is nice. Gotta love how most of these shows try to use a background story from ancient times. Anubis and other stuff.

As for this season, it's shaping up very nicely. I like the direction it's going and how the outcome is playing out.

Jexoui's rl name is Jacob, maybe he is the leader is the hostiles on lost? Next time Locke goes to visit him he might say "my balls need some lickin".

Maybe we haven't been able to see Jacob yet because his abs aren't ready. Gots to look good for the ladies on national television.
