3rd place in 1930. In 2002 we were robbed by Germany. They scored on a shot that Friedel probably should have saved, Kahn played like a monster and they disallowed a goal for us when they missed a blatant hand ball at the goal mouth, resulting in a 1-0 defeat. Germany went on to the finals and it should have been us.

Which leads me to point numero dos. Anything can happen when you have a good keeper, and we have arguably the best in the world, not to mention the U.S. team just gets better and deeper as time goes on.
