Doesn't look bad, per se (though we don't see much from this trailer), but I have a hard time believing it'll do well in the box office. Just can't see Paul Rudd carrying a superhero franchise, let alone one like Ant-Man that isn't a household name.

I think it will do well. But the trailer was weird. We'll see. People were pretty positive Guardians of the Galaxy was gonna tank.

Here is an edited trailer that I think is better:

I can see why Guardians was popular though, especially among kids. I just saw it recently after pretty much everyone I know raved about it -- many comparing it to Star Wars, which blew my mind (they were all crazy). Guardians is very kid-centric between the talking raccoons and trees, un-scary villains, bright colors, lots of comedy, etc. So it was a good family movie.
It was such a different movie from Iron Man, Thor, Batman, Captain America, Avengers, etc though. The latter are all darker and more adult-oriented, imo. And from what I saw in the trailer, Ant-Man seems to fall in the latter category as well. We'll see, I guess. I think Ant-Man could be good if it doesn't try to be too family-friendly, i.e. be more like Batman, less like Guardians.
I like that the trailer didn't tell me the whole movie. I would rather be left out in the cold with a vague sneak peak, than if they were to try to push ant-man's story in the trailer to get people to the theaters.
I never did read comics that much and have no fucking clue what ant-man is, and lets be honest how serious can a person be taken when he is the size of an ant =S
all I forsee is 1 boot, then again maybe he has an auto(fullsize) if a boot is inc.

Ant-man is definitely their riskiest movie. People don't seem to know this, but IronMan, before the movie, wasn't necessarily a huge marvel character. Yes, he had been around for a while, but he was always kind of B-list. Nowhere near spiderman or the Hulk. But Ant-man, he is below ironman, even WITH all the movie stuff now (which they've definitely bumped iron man up in the comics). He's an ORIGINAL avenger and he's probably C-list.
edit: shit, forgot to add this. This movie isn't even the ORIGNAL ant man (who Micheal douglas is playing). So he is the the second version of a c-list character.

All of this Ant-Man stuff is reminding me of the cartoon in the 90s called "The Tick"
