yeah, afterwards we were straightening up the kitchen and I looked at her and said "You do realize that was his sword hand". She just looked at me, suddenly understanding, "oooooooooooooh"

McGrupp 04-21-2013 07:46 PM

Great EP!

Gronthor 04-22-2013 06:39 AM

Danyeras Targarean! Big fan of that story Arc!

Daenerys

Kz 04-22-2013 10:00 AM

yea i mean obviously she wasn't going to give up her dragon that was just dumb of that guy to think he could get one...

Gogan 04-22-2013 10:40 AM

That whole storyline was pretty predictable since a couple episodes ago, but it was still awesome to see play out. Daenerys is such a badass now.

The Night’s Watch storyline was a shocker to me. I didn't see that coming at all. Wonder what will happen to the Night's Watch now.

You're in for a treat!

Yooxra 04-22-2013 11:50 AM

I was hoping Arya was going to fight Dog.

rursusferre 04-22-2013 11:59 AM

Don't worry Yoox, I think you'll dig what happens.

After how badly she fared in the tavern against the Brotherhood Without Banners guy, I don't think I want to see her pickup a sword again. Syrio would not have been impressed.

I thought it was interesting that the Brotherhood Without Banners follows the Lord of Light. I'm assuming the Red Priestess, having left Stannis for a bit, is on her way to meet with the Brotherhood. Wonder if she'll recognize Arya and what will come of that.

I think you'll be interested by some of the things you will learn about the brotherhood without banners.

Goddamn, its so hard to talk about this season without giving stuff away! In a way, I am super jealous of the people who haven't read the books. There is going to be some mind blowing events.

I can't wait to see how the portray some of those things in the show.

Game of thrones season 3 trailer

Even though I read the books and am probably missing something. Why did that guy free Theon, kill the guys trying to re-capture him, then just bring him back?

Gogan 04-23-2013 10:47 AM

I forgot about that. I didn't understand what was going on there either. Was he trying to coax a confession about Winterfell out of him? Trying to get him to admit he'd rather be a Stark than a Greyjoy?

rursusferre 04-23-2013 11:17 AM

It will make sense soon. That's one of those things you can't talk about without ruining.

Unfortunately this.

The only thing that was driving me mad the whole time Theon was escaping was, didn't he tell him to follow the sun as it rises in the east? Why the fuck would Theon be going east to get to the west coast of Westeros? His sister wouldn't have sailed all the way around the continent just to pick him up.

Gronthor 04-23-2013 12:20 PM

Theon deserves his fate. Knowing some of the books i have to say that the Stark family line is the punching bag of this series, it is the one family i root for most yet they constantly keep being shat upon.

Quintilian 04-24-2013 01:57 AM

I think his actions can be explained as that he was desperate, in pain, and half out of his mind. We also don't really know the time frame, it could have been just a day or less thatn he was free.

Yeah from what i know of the books, they fucked him up significantly more than they showed in the show.

Rhymes with Leek!

rursusferre 04-24-2013 11:48 AM

No, its Meek!

rursusferre 04-24-2013 11:52 AM

Just imagine that, soon, we'll be introduced to a character that will make you think Jeoffery wasn't such a bad guy.

i was a little late on watching the latest episode, but we talked about this and i was right, it's exactly who i thought it was, he's just fucking with theon

I knew who he was the minute I saw him because he's too big of an actor to be a nobody on a show like Game of Thrones.

Rhun 04-25-2013 01:18 PM

i don't even know the actor, i had suspicions at first, but as soon as the guy says "you bastard" i knew who he was.

Yeah the writers have done a really good job of not using the term bastard in any context other than what it means, unlike most tv/movies.

Cruci 04-26-2013 08:13 AM

I always pictured Ramsay differently. If he was ever truly described in detail in the books, I don't remember, but this is what I pictured:

http://www.thedevilsdemons.com/wp-co.../10/galder.png

Needless to say, it took me a while to catch on to who he was. Started to figure it out about the time he cut down all of his men...too talented to be a nobody squire.

Quintilian 04-29-2013 12:27 AM

The stuff we're seeing with Theon is basically all invented for the show. He disappears for a really long time in the books and has some truly horrible things happen to him, some of which are only alluded at.

rursusferre 04-29-2013 04:56 AM

No, they happen, just later in the series. They moved it forward a bit in order to keep the actor on the show and the character in people's minds.

Rottenzombie 05-01-2013 12:13 AM

Yeah when they brought him back in the books, I couldn't remember what actually happened to him it had been so long.
Seeing him now in the show is like wtf, you're skipping a whole book which = +5 years IRL.

Gronthor 05-01-2013 10:29 AM

The scene with Jamie explaining his actions about the mad king was a really good piece of television and acting.

Yeah, that was a fantastic scene for so many reasons. One of my favorites so far this season.

rursusferre 05-01-2013 10:48 AM

Overall, the quality of casting/acting of this show is just insane. This is really not a television show but a multi-part movie series we get to see each week.

McGrupp 05-05-2013 08:43 PM

Good stuff tonight! The guy playing Theon's captor is in character! The discussion between Tywin and Redwyne was well done. Good filmography on the wall..Damn good stuff!

Just so people aren't confused, Olenna Redwyne/Tyrell (Margaery's grandmother) is a Redwyne who married a Tyrell lord. Some noble women keep their family names after marriage (like Cersei Lannister) and others take the name of their husband (like Catelyn Stark). Usually it depends on which family has the stronger name.

Blake 05-06-2013 02:34 PM

iono i thought the episode was pretty boring, sure lots of info n shit but man with only 10 eps in a season... i wanted more. also after the past few episodes had such awesome endings i thought that little flash forward thing was pretty gay.

i really wanted to watch the imp tell sansa and his lover that he has to marry her. fuck i wanted to watch shae beat the shit out of him and sansa break the fuck down

Yeah, I really wanted to see that too. I hope it's in a director's cut for the blu-ray or something.

I thought last night's episode was really strong; not at all boring. So many great moments, e.g. Tywin v Redwyne; the Red Priestess foreshadowing Arya's destiny; Littlefinger v Varys, Jon Snow and Ygritte's pre-climb chat. I can't get over how great this show is week after week.

One thing I'm still confused about though... why are Snow and the Wildlings trying to get south? Are they trying to assault Castle Black, and if so why? Or are they trying to open the gate to let the rest of the Wildlings through? Is this all just to flee from the white walkers, or is there some other motivation? What's their end game here?

rursusferre 05-06-2013 03:10 PM

They are trying to open the gates I believe.
