I can't wait to see how pissed readers get about Talisa dying and the implications it has about theories related to Jeyne Westerling (Robb's queen in the books who didn't go to the wedding and is alive).

Quintilian 06-03-2013 03:47 PM

It was just fan theories that she was pregnant though. I think it'll be ok having her get cut out.

Also.

That's awesome. I read another funny twitter post earlier today:

"Game of Thrones: a show for those who can't deal with the sunny optimism of The Walking Dead."

McGrupp 06-03-2013 04:53 PM

Quin, that is awesome. I foresee book sales skyrocketing.

This reminds me a lot of the "White People Mourning Mitt Romney" twitter account.

This one made me laugh so hard

I've had it with game of thrones after 2 episodes. STOP killing dogs dammit this bullshit has to stop

Gogan 06-03-2013 05:23 PM

Not gonna lie, my reaction would've made for a pretty good video.

Some of those were pretty good, but many didn't come off as genuine. I'm sure having a camera in your face will do that.

On a side note, the sounds effects in that scene were brutal. Just listening to it in that video sounded like they were watching some slasher flick carnage. I also really loved how they ended the episode -- final brutal kill, cue credits, and then absolute silence for the duration of the credits. So powerful.

Rottenzombie 06-03-2013 06:03 PM

Yeah the silence at the end was pretty cool.

McGrupp 06-03-2013 09:08 PM

I assumed they'd do a Reins of Castamere redemption during the credits, but the silence was poetic.

Fusa 06-04-2013 11:35 AM

"Wow, thats a lot of people getting killed"

Physics 06-04-2013 01:39 PM

Red wedding!!!!

Pathology 06-04-2013 02:02 PM

Quick note from a non book reader. I feel this episode was Brands big day, his family died and he steps up with this insane power. While the Starks and wildings have there possession thing Brand is showing he is a step beyond the rest of westeros. I think the show just changed my favorite character in a 30 second scene. He steps up to saves his friends, John, and his brother. To the real King of the North(I include north of the wall with this statement, the wildlings will bow to him).

OHH DAMN - When is brand gonna control a dragon!!!!!

Kind of disappointed in this finale, gotta say. I was pretty positive they were gonna end with something else.

McGrupp 06-09-2013 09:56 PM

Yea, was an interesting take on how to finish the season. Season 4 will be action packed.

rursusferre 06-09-2013 10:18 PM

Yeah, next season is going to be even crazier than this one.

Rhun 06-10-2013 12:22 AM

You getting old Grupp. You don't even know what season it is.

I kept hearing from people who read the books that there was still 1 more big event that was going to happen.

Since I don't know what that could've been, I was fairly satisfied with the finale. I wasn't expecting anything crazy, but rather just tying up some loose ends and preparing us for the storylines of next season.

Arya's first kill might've been my favorite scene of the night. Her character has been one of my favorites, so I love seeing her finally becoming a little assassin.

Tywin and Tyrion were great, as always, dealing with Joffrey.

My big annoyance of the night was Jon Snow taking 3 arrows (2 in the back) and not dying. I realize this is a show that stretches reality with things like dragons, worgs, and reanimated dead, but nobody should be able to take 3 arrows, hop on a horse for a long (and bumpy) ride, and not die.

McGrupp 06-10-2013 04:07 PM

Damn, you're right. Fixed it! The actors have been great...Loved the small council scene where Joff calls out Tywin and everyone's sphincter tightening in anticipation of his reaction.
Saw Lena Headey on Conan last week and she, among others, haven't read the books. Needless to say they were devastated when they did the Red Wedding and live in fear of dying each episode Lol.

Yooxra 06-10-2013 05:48 PM

I like how Tywin said something like "just cause he's king doesn't mean he has power" then says something like "someone with an army has power". Btw he has win in his name so he owns that little shit king.

I enjoyed the season and with how big of an episode 9 was I didn't really need some huge conclusion for the finale. They left it off with the whitewalkers on the way to crush all was good enough for me. They tied up most things nicely for S3 for me. I haven't read any of the books so it's easy for me. Looking forward to Storm of swords it is? Feast of crows? Dance with dragons? I believe the next few seasons are called.

Also did you read the article on the game of thrones series possibly shaky future? http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/...s-shaky-future

The other issue here is Martin's books. If a new one isn't done in the next, say, three years the show will have run out of material to adapt. And while it's probably a good bet that Martin will get the next novel, Winds of Winter, out by then, he still has the final book to work on afterward. As a failsafe, Martin did tell Weiss and Benioff his overall plan for the story, but has also expressed that he'd be displeased if the show went on ahead of the books. "I don't think I'd be happy with that," Martin told EW.
What an ass. WTF does he expect the producers to do? They can't just sit on a TV series for a few years while his old ass tinkers with the books. Sadly, I can't fathom he finishes the 7th book before the TV show catches up to him given his current rate of book releases. Martin is delusional if he thinks tiding us over with prequels and this "Hedge Knight" story is going to fly -- especially if it results in losing some of the current GoT actors.

rursusferre 06-10-2013 07:49 PM

The episode it's self was of the same quality th show has always been. It's just they could have ended in a way that really would have made you say WHAT THE FUCK, asano. The problem with that ending is I didn't feel it will leave the audience with much to aganoize over in anticipation of the next season. For me the season finale is all about making you crazy for the best season. I thought ending it with daenerys didn't do that.

I think the red wedding did it for me for S3 & S4 finale. That was insane. They closed up some of the story well and left it prepped for the next season I think.

I think that Rursus is just jealous that the dragon lady got called mommy way more times than he had been called daddy by a female.

rursusferre 06-10-2013 08:40 PM

A dead woman can't call me anything.

ask anyone who read the series as it came out, this won't be a surprise to any of them, rotten/ghoul and a dude i work with read these books as they were released...

dude is either going to die, or yeah what you said, they are going to run out of material, what happens next will be comical

Rhun 06-10-2013 11:09 PM

also for the record they decided to go with an interesting timeline, they cut out a lot that was in the third book, i'm sure they will make up for it in the 4th season....weird thing is they blew their load... there's a few pretty major things that happened in the third book that they did not show yet, but once they do....there is a ton of boring stuff they haven't delved into at all in the show, so i guess if they really need to that can draw out season 4 with a ton of shit.....

they really sped through some of the storyline in season 3

ok well i'm a bit drunk and i keep going from point to point and probably not making much sense, but i guess...they still have a bunch of material so i guess they can drag it out if they want to, but it's going to get boring, dani sits on her ass a lot, arya does a ton of shit...bran does too and they didn't show coldhands yet...sansa's storyline gets kinda crazy...the iron islands stuff happened a little differently, i'm sure they will focus on that in the 4th season as well

...so yeah sorry for the rambling...just interesting how they are doing this, they really expedited some of the stories, dunno how they can really show much for people like dani for the next season

ok one last thing, every scene with ramsay cracks me the fuck up, they are doing the best possible job with that character

Rhun 06-10-2013 11:15 PM

oh and asano...pretty sure jon only takes one arrow in the book, and if i remember correctly he's not 100% sure it was from ygritte, he was trying to gtfo asap, he ends up getting shot once in the leg or arm or something, it's been a while so i could be wrong

Yooxra 06-11-2013 08:16 AM

I actually get nervous reading this thread due to not reading the books.

Yooxra 06-11-2013 08:16 AM

My favorite character is HOODOOOOOOOOR.

McGrupp 06-11-2013 10:17 AM

Yoox - he is so under utilized in the show. There must be over a thousand HODOR! HODOR! in the books lol

I want to see the little professor X control him into hulk smashing everyone while he is screaming HODOR. That is what I want to see in S4.

You won't be disappointed.

Quintilian 06-11-2013 03:44 PM

I expected them to go a different way than they did at the end of the season. I guess they're saving a few big things for next season.

rursusferre 06-11-2013 04:44 PM

I know exactly what you at referring to Quinn and I agree. Someone suggested they will begin the season (or end the first episode) with this. I think that's a waste as it is just to good for a non season finale ending. But if they wait all the way until the end of 4 I fear it will be too far away to have the same impact. We'll see. Either way I am sure it will be great.

Onion 06-11-2013 05:43 PM

God that scene where he waves the sausage makes me laugh so hard.

rursusferre 06-11-2013 06:15 PM

Ramsay cracks my shit up.

Rottenzombie 06-18-2013 12:10 AM

Finally watched the finale, and meh. I knew "it" wasn't going to happen so w/e. The end with Daenary's was good so far as how boring it was, cause get used to that shit.

Asano, that wasn't Arya's first kill, which was fucking awesome how Sandor asked her if that was the first "man" she'd killed. She killed a boy in S1 and totally played this scene awesome.

And I think my brother's right, pretty sure Jon only got blasted with one arrow and he wasn't sure if it was Ygritte. Was kinda weird how only she showed up to shoot him, when there were still quite a few other wildlings that would have been chasing after him, on horses...

Also, some people have finished their college careers in the time it takes shitdick to write one of these books. Not surprised at all he's getting his diapers all in a bunch that the show's gonna catch up before he's even remotely done.

Gronthor 06-18-2013 07:56 AM

I don't know why they (the show) are trying to get you to sympathize with Theron. I actually like him getting his shit fucked up.
