Might make sense for super-dense areas like Tokyo, but the US and much of Europe just seems to have too much infrastructure across too large an area for that to seem feasible even in our lifetime. I'd place my bets on self-driving all-electric cars first, which seem to realistically be about 10 years out. The tech is mostly there already, but I'm guessing it'll be awhile before it gets widespread government clearance.
