Xcom 2
It's here!
I really wanted to go ham and play this all weekend, but so far I'm a little disappointed. Seems pretty buggy right now. The sporadic long pauses in between turns I could live with. But there seems to be some serious line-of-sight issues. Sometimes it works in your favor, sometimes not. But they all seems like bugs. For example, the enemy is on the floor above me in a building, and triggers my overwatch even though there's a ceiling above me with no LoS to the target. Somehow I can get LoS when there are big walls in front of me -- the wall doesn't get destroyed, I just shoot right through it. That said, they did a lot of things really well this time around. The soldier customization is amazingly deep. Hopefully they can fix some of the bigger bugs sooner than later.

I take it all back. XCOM2 is better in every way than XCOM1 (which was a high bar to cross). Such a good game.

Turns out the bugs are more annoying on the harder difficulties. Once I dropped down to "novice" difficulty, the little things didn't bother me as much. =P
Anyway, finished the game tonight after ~40 hours. And despite all that time, there were very few story missions. I got to a point today where I had researched everything available, had all the top weapons, most of the map covered, most of my team were 1 rank away from max, etc but I had only done a couple story missions. When I finally focused on it, I discovered the whole story was composed of about 4 or 5 missions total. So there was a lot of filler. Fortunately, it was all fun. Anyway, great gameplay; poor story. But that's XCOM. Looking forward to some DLC now.

Thanks for the review. The original was my favorite strategy game of all time. The Enemy Unknown was good, but yes, lack of story made it's replay value nil. Will hold of on this until the price drops.
