Rogue Squadron Trailer

Surprised to not see some post something about this. It looks fucking awesome. A star wars movie not about jedi? I hope it encourages them to expand out into other Star Wars properties. I'd love a Netflix Bounty Hunters show.

Been traveling the past couple week, so didn't get a chance to post till now.

That trailer does look awesome. I really like the lead actresses they're finding. Mon Mothma looks identical to the actress who played her in RotJ, which is pretty cool. The AT-AT scene looks badass. And I loooove the slow, haunting Star Wars theme song played at the end. I hope the "spinoff" movies are a little darker than the main episode movies. Not that Force Awakens was too light-hearted, ala Phantom Menace. But some dark and gritty Star Wars content would be pretty sweet.

I heard a while back that they were doing a bunch of Star Wars-based movies alongside episodes 7, 8, and 9. Rogue One is just the first. There will be one focused on Han Solo in 2018 (the casting for that will make or break it). And one on Boba Fett in 2020.

Basically one movie every year for the next 5 years.

I'm with you -- doing some non-movie Star Wars stuff would be great, though I won't hold my breath.

Harrison Ford wanted to die in return of the jedi.

so I couldn't see him (Harrison Ford) being to enthused about this, it would 100% have to be recast and something in his younger age, but even then we almost know the full story and I wouldn't like it.

Interesting. I would've been ok with him dying at the end of Jedi. Ford's argument for it makes sense to me.

I'd bet all my money on the new Solo movie being focused on his younger years. Maybe how he became a smuggler in the first place; how he won the Falcon from Lando; maybe his early dealings with Jabba. I can't guess at what the central story/conflict would be, though. Can't say I know enough about his story pre-trilogy.

I agree it would have to be a full recast without Ford even making an appearance. The original cast are too old now to make any cameos in these new films, barring some crazy Star Trek time-traveling nonsense.

It is Asano. Its about a young Han solo. Which is part of what makes it weird to me.

Han Solo used to be in the Empire. I believe he was involved in a situation where he was going to have to execute Chewbacca or something, and he couldn't. Instead he helped him escape. Chewie swore a life oath to him for saving his life, and the rest you know. I imagine it will be dealing with this and probably how he got his hands on the Millenium Falcon.

I dunno, I just don't need to see all of this spelled out.

Ah, yes, I believe I heard about that somewhere now that you mention it. I can totally see that being the focus of the movie.

I would imagine a lot of people don't know that story, so for them it would make a good movie. But I can see how you, already knowing the backstory, would be less enthused.

Are you also not so interested in the Boba Fett movie? I have no clue what that movie could focus on. I'm not sure I'm terribly excited for that movie.
